Early Help

What are Early Help and Early Interventions?

Early Help is support given to families when a challenge first develops, or if a new or continuing difficulty doesn’t meet the thresholds for specialist support such as CAHMS or Suffolk Children and Young People’s services (CYP)

Early help is always voluntary and it aims to support families to develop strategies and strengths, resolve difficulties and prevent problems escalating

Inclusive Opportunities at Stonham Barns

Run by two people who have a combined 40 years’ experience teaching in Special Schools. It runs throughout the year, offering places just for the holidays as well. They run a 16+ day service provision.

Beyond the Wall – Thornham, Eye

Beyond the Wall is a charity based in the Walled Garden on the Thornham Estate. They work with people from 16 + upwards who have a disability. They offer garden based activities and are now developing a café.

Red2Green day service

Based in Swaffham, they offer a service called ‘Options’ which is largely activity based; arts and crafts, community visits, gardening, cooking, Thai chi. This is a service for adults with learning disabilities.

Leading Lives

Leading lives is run numerous ‘hubs’ around Suffolk. They offer day services for adults with learning disabilities

Stowmarket Community Hub – Leading Lives is just one of the hubs.

Achieving Aspirations

The Junction in Stowmarket offers a mixture of day services and evening groups for young adults with learning disabilities.

Poppies Care Farm

Based in Ipswich

Depden Care Farm

This offers adults with learning disabilities a chance to be outdoors, work on the farm, care for animals and the land etc.

Nowton Park Nursery, Realise Futures

Nowton Nursery is located in Bury St Edmunds. It is similar to Depden as it offers lots of outdoor activities and opportunities; gardening, growing vegetables, harvesting, serving customers. It is a day service for adults with disabilities.
