Riverwalk School is an expanding and developing provision within the Believe, Engage, Succeed Trust. We have developed the curriculum at Riverwalk to ensure we meet the complex needs of our young people and have grown to 185 pupils.

You would be coming in at a really exciting time to join the middle leadership team of the school, with specific responsibility for curriculum development.

You will have a teaching responsibility within the school of 0.5 (with 0.5 for your PPA and Leadership role).

We are looking for teachers who:

  • have experience in working in special education particularly with severe and profound learning difficulties
  • understand the impacts of the Rochford Review, and Engagement Profile
  • have expertise in areas such as SCERTS, Makaton, PECs
  • desire to lead a staff team forward and support staff very early in their career.

31.5 hpw, 39 weeks per year, Monday – Friday, 8.45am – 3.15pm. Plus 1 hour for mandatory staff training each week (Monday 3.15pm – 4.15pm) and half hour each week for class team meeting (Thursday 3.15pm – 3.45pm).

We require Teaching Assistants to work in our provisions for pupils with more challenging behaviours.

We have an approach based upon SCERTS that uses a therapeutic approach to teaching children to self-regulate themselves. Pupils can display significant levels of challenging behaviour and we use a very intensive support programme to develop alternative communication strategies to reduce those behaviours that restrict their social interaction. As part of a team you will need to be creative as well as resilient with a significant sense of fun. Play is an important part of the therapeutic approach.

Cleaner

Grade 2 £17,364 – £18,426 pro rata

Actual Salary: £9 p/h (£4,494 – £4,769), 10 hours per week, 44 weeks per year.

Required asap, 10 hours per week 3:30 – 5:30 Monday to Friday, term time plus a small number of hours in the school holidays to assist with deep cleaning duties. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking cleaner to join our team.

Riverwalk is a 3-19 school for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.
